Because I enjoy translating and subtitling Japanese music videos (or PVs, if you prefer), and because they're excellent practice, I'm always looking for new projects. Unfortunately, I don't have the money or time to buy every new release, and sometimes older video releases are no longer available for purchase. So, should someone out there have a video they'd like to see subtitled, I'm happy to take suggestions. If you haven't seen any of the work I've done previously, please check below for links to YouTube previews and downloads for everything I've done so far. There will also be a list of upcoming projects. I would ask you to check this list before making a request, but if you want to second someone's request it's perfectly okay with me.

I do have a couple guidelines for making suggestions, also below, though I cannot promise to take everyone's. A lot is dependent on the time available.

Whoever and wherever you are... First of all, thank you! Whatever you do, I can't wait to see it. <3

When it comes to saying what I like to read, I have a little trouble putting it into words. I am open to all kinds of stories, moods, and prose styles (or if the muse moved you, blank verse, Norse epics, or any other kind of poetry).

The thing I like most about fanfiction is finding out what the author thinks is important, interesting, or unexplored about the canon of the original work -- something that makes you want to go to a friend and say, "What if this happened?" or "What do you think is going on with this character?" and end up having the kind of discussion that makes everyone in some coffeehouse look at you funny while you and said friend bury the table with notes scratched on napkins. My favorite plots are the one that develop from the author's pet curiosities, which is why I've tried to be as open-ended and general as possible in my request details for each work. I will also try to include some specifics. They're there if you want to use them, but please ignore them if you'd prefer. Whatever draws you to these characters or this relationship dynamic, whatever makes it so interesting and close to you that you chose to put it on your Offers list -- that's what interests me.

~ my personal quirks in a little more detail ~

LIKES: I adore characters who can geek out if geeking out is appropriate to the story, whether the topic is traditionally geeky or no. Seeing characters who have lives and relationships outside of their love affairs makes my day (friends are an important part of a healthy romance!). I often enjoy vignettes, but stories that have a beginning, middle, and end that follow the development and resolution of some struggle (internal, external, against friends, self, or foes, no barbarian overlord to big, no stubborn cake recipe too small) will always be my true love.

In terms of personal pronouns and gender identities, I tend to go with canon presentations. However, if you have a headcanon for any character that differs from the "official" one, please go with your heart! I really do want to see these characters through your eyes.

DISLIKES: Soul-crushing no-win scenarios. Characters don't have to win and be constantly healthy and happy to make *me* happy, but if they lose or break, they should do so with dignity. I'm big on the indomitability of the human spirit despite our moments of weakness and all that jazz.

And I guess I'm not really an NC-17 person. I do regularly read and write stories with porn or enjoy hot pictures, so this is not a sex ban, as it were. But I'd really like *stories* foremost. Sex in itself isn't a DQ (or a must-have -- it's as optional as pancakes), and I wouldn't be squicked by characters engaging in (consensual) bondage, but if you happen to decide that the story you want to tell ought to include sex, please remember that the characters are what I'm interested in, not really the porn. And I prefer no xeno anything.

My dealbreaker trigger issues are: mental health problems, especially clinical-level crippling anxiety, self-doubt, and overbearing feelings of worthlessness; incest; graphic depictions of physical trauma or mutilation; any kind of rape; abuse of persons or creatures. In case it's not clear, please no A/B/O.

This is a shameless plea for you to join the fanwork "Olympics" I do in the summers now: SASO 2016! See the sign-up instructions here or check out the community at sportsanime.

What's a SASO?

"SASO" stands for "Sports Anime Shipping Olympics". Basically, it's an excuse to meet other fans who love sports anime and make more fanfic/fanart/whatever-you-do than you thought you could make in a summer. Points are awarded for both quantity and quality, so you can win glory for your ship, but mostly it's all for the fun.

Shipping Olympics? What's that?

The team entries and bonus round entries all have a personal relationship as their focus. All personal relationships are fair game! Want your team to represent a het romance? Go for it! Want to represent for an LGBTQ+ pairing? You are in good company. Is poly more your style? Have at! Completely uninterested in romance so you want to write things for a platonic friendship or family relationship? I'll be honest, you may not be able to get a full team together, but people who can't get a full ship team are encouraged to band together into fandom teams where you can represent any relationship in the show*!

* - (Check out the rules for detailed info on how teams work. I'm trying to keep this short.)

Once the teams are set, you respond to the challenge themes for Main Rounds (where your entry must represent your team's ship) and Bonus Rounds (where it's a huge prompt meme free-for-all) in order to rack up the points.

That sounds like work.

There's an entire team called "Team Grandstand" for people who want to join the fun, but aren't sure they have time to compete (or aren't sure they want the pressure of creating fanworks on a fast turnaround). On Team Grandstand, you can read, vote, prompt people to do things, and everybody wins.

But why are you telling me this?

Honestly? Because I'm hoping some of my TeniPuri friends still follow here and...

I really want Team Prince of Tennis to get enough members to compete.

Last year, there was no interest in the team I tried to run. This year, I'm trying something different. I'm not on the Prince of Tennis team (which already has two people! That's a 200% improvement over last year!). Instead, I will be in a position to put Prince of Tennis prompts for any ship you want into the bonus rounds for you to fill. Seriously, if you're not seeing a bonus round prompt you want to fill, pass me a note, and I will lob you something I hope you can work with.

Or if you're not a TeniPuri fan, you're still more than welcome to participate! There's a place for everyone in SASO 2016! (As long as you like Sports Anime.)

I got a couple emails I didn't expect this morning, since generally I consider myself a low profile individual. Long story short, another writer is writing a story that they wished to publish as the ending to one of my works in progress, The Rules Saga. I have denied them permission to declare their version "official", but I am not asking them to take it down because I believe the creative privilege I make use of when I write additional or alternate material about someone else's stories (ie, fanfiction) extends to this person as well. I am quoting my entire response to the author below as a reference for those people who have had questions for me about this, and anyone who may have a question in the future:

Hi, there. I really appreciate you asking for my permission in this case. Since I haven't abandoned The Rules Saga, I must deny any permission to write the "official" version. I will be writing the official ending as soon as life and my persistent health problems allow. According to the schedule I established when my health took a turn for the worse, I will start writing that ending next year, although I may wait to publish it until I have enough written to post the ending in its entirety with no further hiatus. This may be as late as 2017. I'm letting you know this because I have not read the chapters you have already posted, and I will not read them until after I have completed and finished the official ending. I need to avoid reading them in order to protect both of our stories from accusations of stealing plot points. I consider your work a fanfiction in its own right, and worthy of the respect due to any work of fanfiction.

As such, I will not ask you to take it down. You have a right to share your own thoughts and ideas. I will, however, ask you to remove any text that you may have copied from my work. Specifically, I am asking you to change the title of your fanfic, and to write new summary for your work. I would prefer that this summary include a note that you are writing a story "inspired by psiten's 'The Rules Saga'". If your chapters contain any text that is copied verbatim, I need you to remove it, however because I have not read your chapters, I cannot say if this is the case or not. A character quoting a few previous words is fine, but copying an identifiable segment of text is not. As long as you remove all text that was copied verbatim and clearly indicate for readers that this is a fanfiction of my fanfiction, not an official ending, I will not ask you to delete the story.

I will be posting this response on my Dreamwidth journal as an open letter to anyone who may read my stories. I hope this will serve both as a way to end any controversy or ruffled feathers caused by this story, and as a guideline to anyone who wishes to write fanfiction inspired by my fanfiction in the future. For your protection, I will not name you or link to your work on my blog. I don't want you to face a sudden wave of negativity in the event that any of my blog followers disapprove of your decision to continue the story.

I'm glad to know the story I started was an inspiration for you to write your own. Creativity should be respected wherever we find it. Good luck, and best wishes.

I want to thank everyone for being understanding. For clarity's sake, I'm going to make a short list of guidelines I would like people to follow if they wish to write fanfiction about my fanfiction, seeing as we would be publishing in the same spaces, which could cause more confusion between works than is possible when writing fanfiction of a traditionally published work.

Guidelines for Writing Fanfiction of My Fanfiction

1. Please ask me for permission before copying any substantial portion of my work into your work. This includes summaries and titles as well as sections of chapters. If you're not sure whether what you wish to use counts as "substantial", please err on the side of asking my permission!
2. I will not grant anyone permission to present their work as officially part of my story unless I have explicitly abandoned that story. I reserve the right to withhold permission to present a work as the official conclusion of any abandoned story pending review of your writing style to be sure it's a good match and a discussion of where you plan to take the story -- a policy I'm borrowing from the process J.M. Barrie's estate used to find an author to write the official sequel to Peter Pan. (This only applies to writers who wish their work to be considered "official". Anyone who wants to provide "their take" and does not care about me linking to them as the official ending of the story can skip this and go to Guideline 3.)
3. Note clearly in your summary that this is your work, inspired by my work. Please do this either as a fandom tag (for example, including "The Rules Saga [psiten]" next to "Prince of Tennis" when you declare your fandoms for the story, replacing "The Rules Saga" and "Prince of Tennis" with whatever stories you are referencing) or as part of the summary (for example, adding a clause that your work is "inspired by psiten's 'The Rules Saga'", using the name of the story you intend to reference -- please note, this is the only option available to you on Fanfiction.net because of their fandom tag submittal process).
