Learn to type?

My boss, with a knife,
Pried five keys from his keyboard.
He "didn't need them".

You see... he was tired of hotkey combinations being activated when he mistyped. Well, he called them "all these things popping up on my screen that I don't want" (like the Start Menu). I did persuade him to keep at least one each of Ctrl and Alt, and to keep all the ordinary things like Shift, the letters, and even the numbers...

We'll see how this goes. I've kept the keys in case something goes horribly wrong; but if it doesn't, I'll be just as happy. If I had twitter, I'd tweet this.

A number of times I have been using a new or recently reinstalled computer, and typing a letter or comment or entry, and paused to think while my finger lingered on the shift key long enough for sticky keys to engage...
And then spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to disengage/disable that [explitive deleted] "service".

I can totally see pulling the "excess" keys in a time like that, 'cause I totally considered throwing out entire computers in frustration.

Your StickyKeys didn't come with a confirmation dialog box? That sucks.

Yeah, that's completely messed up. Time to twiddle the settings.

in my experience, ymmv
In Vista, StickyKeys started asking "would you like to turn StickyKeys on?" when you held shift down to long.

With XP, StickyKeys would just come on, with a little "Congratulations, you have turned on StickyKeys!" and nothing telling you how to turn it off (which involved digging through some obscure part of the System control panel, i think.)

And Lord help you if you locked your computer, and needed to log back in with a password that wasn't all SHIFT!@#< because the only way to disable sticky keys at that point was to shut the computer down and reboot.

Re: in my experience, ymmv
But this computer has XP, and I always get the "Would you like to turn StickyKeys on?" dialog box...

Re: in my experience, ymmv
oh, to turn it off press both shift keys at the same time.

For Windows XP, StickyKeys can be disabled in Control Panel --> Accessibility Options under the Keyboard tab by unchecking Use StickyKeys.
